This course is part two of a beginner's introduction to the language of the New Testament. This course will build on your existing knowledge from NT Greek for Beginners (Greek 1). Gain confidence and extend your understanding of the language commonly spoken in the Eastern Roman Empire at the time of Christ.
Aims:
- To learn basic elements of the grammar and vocabulary of New Testament Greek.
- Memorise or recognise key words and translate simple texts from Greek to English.
- Identify forms of Greek words through the parsing of verbs, nouns, adjectives and participles.
Content:
- Nouns of the 3rd declension, pronouns
- First and Second Aorist and Imperfect tenses of λυω and irregular verbs
- Verbs unlikeλυω
- The Imperative, Participles as Adjectives
- Perfect and Pluperfect tenses of λυω (recognition only, not learning them)
- The Subjunctive (recognition only, not learning it)
Learning Outcomes:
- To learn basic elements of the grammar and vocabulary of New Testament Greek.
- Translate simple texts from Greek to English.
- Identify forms of Greek words through the parsing of verbs, nouns, adjectives and participles.
Progression:
New Testament Greek 3 and 4 (Intermediates) are to follow. These will add to your knowledge of Greek.
