E-Seminar: Reading and Understanding the Additions to Daniel
The Book of Daniel is a complex Old Testament text, with sections written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. In this seminar we will study the Greek additions to Daniel (The Prayer of Azariah, the Song of the Three Young Men, the Story of Susanna, and the Story of Bel and the Dragon). This course will introduce some of the historical and literary backgrounds the Additions and will present students with the opportunity to apply both diachronic and synchronic methods of Biblical Interpretation as we read and attempt to understand the texts together. In this process they will develop a better appreciation of the Book of Daniel as they practice their exegetical and interpretative skills.
