New faculty members joined Domuni-Universitas in October 2024.

Professor Frédéric Curnier-Laroche, an art historian with a degree from the École du Louvre (Paris) and a priest of the Diocese of Autun (France), has joined the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as a mentor to art history students, starting 1 October 2024. With his academic expertise and experience in higher education, Mr Curnier-Laroche supports students in deepening their artistic skills and understanding. His course, titled "Art History in its Context," provides fundamental insights into the relationships between art and its historical, cultural, and spiritual contexts, helping students to fully grasp works of art in all their complexity and depth.

Mr Avner Soudry has been appointed lecturer for the course "Jewish Identity in Question" within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Currently preparing a doctoral thesis at INALCO (Paris), Mr Soudry is conducting research on "The Liturgical Poetic Work of a Family of Jewish Scholars from 17th-18th Century Morocco," which he will publish in a critical first edition. Mr Soudry has also been the conductor of the Ensemble Instrumental de Nice since 2021 and previously served as music director for the European choral movement RENANIM.

Professor Guillermo Andrés Juárez, a Dominican, has joined the Faculty of Theology to teach the course "Christ in the Bible" in Spanish. A professor of theology at the Universidad del Norte Santo Tomás de Aquino (UNSTA) in Argentina, Professor Juárez strengthens the academic partnership between the two Dominican institutions. He holds a doctorate in theology from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and is a specialist in systematic theology and bioethics. Additionally, he teaches a course in medical ethics at Domuni-Universitas. His new course will focus on the study of the figure of Christ in the Bible.

Dr Gemma Morató i Sendra, a Dominican with a strong background in theology, communication, and bioethics, joins Domuni-Universitas to teach "Theological Bioethics" in Spanish. With many years of academic experience, notably at the Ramon Llull University and the Don Bosco Institute in Barcelona, Dr Morató offers a course guiding students from general bioethics to theological bioethics. Addressing transitions from principlism to personalism and from minimal ethics to maximal ethics, this course aims to deepen the ethical and theological foundations applied to contemporary issues.

Finally, the institution's board recently held its opening sessions in Cairo. These working sessions enabled the team to define projects and priority themes for the coming academic year and to direct the institution's development. They also provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen regional partnerships and explore research directions related to the Middle East, notably through enhanced scientific cooperation with the Cairo Institute of Oriental Studies (IDEO) and its partners.
