The Senate of Domuni-Universitas

The Senate serves as the main deliberative body of Domuni-Universitas, guiding its strategic and academic directions. It consists of twelve members, with six appointed by the founding associations and six by the university community. The Senate forms an executive committee to prepare its deliberations and discussions. In addition to managing strategic tasks ensuring quality, it also undertakes legislative responsibilities and holds electoral powers. Its role ensures that the university's long-term vision aligns with its core values and mission.

Governance at Domuni-Universitas

The Rectorate is the executive body that oversees the university’s overall direction. It is responsible for strategy, multi-year planning, institutional relationships, and setting the general policies of the institution. The Rectorate oversees the entire university’s operations, ensuring that they adhere to both strategic goals and everyday needs. The Rectorate consists of the Rector, vice-rectors, and key figures such as the heads of various departments, the General Secretary, and the Head of Communications. This collective leadership team drives the mission of Domuni-Universitas, fostering a cohesive academic environment.

Since September 1, 2023, Marie Monnet has been serving as the Rector of Domuni-Universitas,. She holds a five-year term, guiding the institution’s vision and priorities during this period. Under her leadership, the university aims to strengthen its academic offerings, expand its research initiatives, and enhance its global connections.

Central Services

The central services of Domuni-Universitas, manage the university’s daily functions, ensuring that both academic and administrative needs are met efficiently. These services are crucial to maintaining the smooth operation of the university. They are categorized into academic services and administrative and technical services, each playing a vital role in supporting students and staff.

  • Academic Services

These services include all support activities related to studies. They are organized centrally, regardless of language or discipline, which ensures consistency across the university. Key functions include admissions, student support (such as the scholarship and social assistance service), international relations and student mobility, and the management of diplomas and transcripts. The centralized nature of these services allows for a seamless experience for students across different programs.

  • Administrative Services

These services cover accounting, human resources, archiving, and various other essential functions that support the university's infrastructure. Additionally, technical services include IT, programming, publishing, and web design. These teams work behind the scenes to ensure that the university’s technological needs are met and that its online presence is engaging and user-friendly.

One of the key responsibilities of the central services is to implement the Quality Management System, which ensures that the university’s standards align with its commitment to excellence. This system is maintained in coordination with the Quality Assurance Commission, which oversees the adherence to academic and institutional benchmarks.

Faculties and Institutes

Domuni-Universitas, is structured into three main faculties and two interfaculty institutes. This structure allows for specialized study while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among various fields.

  • Faculties

The three faculties include the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Theology, and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. Each faculty operates with its own statutes and is governed by a Faculty Council, chaired by a Dean. These councils are responsible for shaping the academic and research agenda within each faculty.

  • Departments

Each faculty can include departments that focus on specific disciplines. For example, the Faculty of Theology includes a Department of Biblical Studies, while the Faculty of Social Sciences has two departments: History and Art History and Ethics, Economics, and Development. The heads of these departments are integral members of the Academic Council and contribute to the university’s broader academic planning.

  • Interfaculty Institutes

Domuni-Universitas, is also home to two interfaculty institutes—the Human Rights Institute and the Institute for Religious Studies. These institutes serve as transdisciplinary hubs, encouraging collaboration across different faculties. They offer specialized programs that integrate knowledge from various disciplines, addressing complex societal and ethical issues.

The Academic Council

The Academic Council of Domuni-Universitas, unites the councils of the three faculties, providing a platform for academic governance across the institution. It is chaired by the Deans of each faculty and serves as the main forum for discussing the university’s curriculum, research priorities, and academic standards. This collaborative body ensures that each faculty's initiatives align with the university’s overall mission.

Research at Domuni-Universitas

Research is a central pillar ofDomuni-Universitas,, with activities taking place within its Research Institute and through its university publishing house, known as Domuni-Press. These two entities are key in supporting the university’s mission to contribute to academic knowledge and scholarship on a global scale.

  • Domuni-Press
